Debut

Well we finally did it!!  Our first collection of chairs is finished (well almost, we still have some final sanding to do), they made their debut last Thursday, March 27th at an Eco Couture fashion show at Florida International University's School of Architecture.

The last two weeks leading up to the show have been a blaze of effort and problem solving.

Everything from technical issues,

working in tight spaces,

meticulously combining pieces,

This beautiful set of legs had to be set aside due to time constraints.
having to make compromises,

the beautiful mess that comes with wood working,

Having to be portable.  Luckily the chairs fold.

But all in all, the chairs were ready to be used right on time for the show.

We are very proud parents of our wooden children!!

A special thanks to everyone who helped: Amira, Albert, Giovanna, Daniel, Alejandro, James, Raphael, Alivia and Pop.

Who We Are

Please allow us to briefly introduce ourselves.

If I could sum John up in a phrase, it would be: connoisseur of nature, that or Lion Heart.  You will be able to recognize his passionate honesty and genuine compassion from the first conversation.  Unfortunately, these traits are hard to come by; it makes me feel lucky to know him the way I do.

His interest and appreciation for trees and wood is contagious, and I owe a great deal of thanks to him for my own awakened interest to the world of woodworking.

            -Martina

A kind hearted and spirited young beauty, my closest friend and confidant - Martina is the kind of person you can go anywhere with.  Unafraid of challenges and excited by brave ideas she jumps in without hesitation.

She lives in the moment, from one to the next, and always manages to find her joy.  A source of great power and energy for her, it remains a great example of what optimism and appreciation can do to bring happiness into one's life.

At the end of last year, we decided to put our skills in wood working into effect.

Our goal is to make 50 folding chairs by the end of March.  Although there is so much to be learned from this manufacturing process, our main reason to create such a large amount of chairs is to support a dear friend of ours; Amira Ajlouni, for her Eco-Couture fashion show.  These chairs will provide the audience with a place to sit while enjoying the parade of student made costumes crafted from recycled and repurposed materials.

Here is the prototype of which we are modeling our efforts after.  It is a classic and simple folding chair.
